Des Renner was a retired cruiser and one of the voices of Russell Radio which provided valuable weather forecasts and advice via short-wave to cruisers around New Zealand and up among the Pacific islands. We often listened to him on our SSB radio, and visited his house with Pete and Judi of "Twisted Sisters." Des died in 2012 and Russell Radio no longer provides weather information.
